Big change to our ending – we will now be finishing at the Scottburgh Primary School
We will not finish on the beach as before. You will still ride onto the beach and see the sea, but for logistic reasons, and to keep the vibe going, we have decided to finish at the school.
There will be a beer garden until 4pm so you can relax properly after your 900k ride.
After Party – Scottburgh Golf Club – 28 April 7pm
For those of you staying over in Scottburgh or wanting to stay over – we will have an informal gathering to say final goodbyes at the Scottburgh Golf Club. There will be a nominal charge of R150 which will include dinner and a beer/drink on the house.
We will show all the day 9 highlights and recap those from the week.
Bookings can be made via the online entry system.
So what’s happening out on our route?
The farmers are hard at work to ensure 2018 will be another cracker. We are riding over 900kms through South Africa and ensuring that the route is well prepared takes a massive effort with many farmers and trail builders helping us. We pass through over 100 farms and we ride on around 250km of single track. This is not bike park stuff, this is only prepared for joBerg2c.
We have a few new twists and turns in our route is king story. For those who have ridden before, you will see some differences and for those who are new you will be riding trails and country side to make you feel alive.
We have had a potential breakthrough on Day 4, with a new drop being created off the escarpment. This could become another section of trail happiness soon.
We will be doing the dry run towards the end of February and you will get more info soon.

It’s almost time for this great ride. The Bielie Mielie uses parts of day 2 and day 3 on the 100k route. It’s incredible joBerg2c training. It will also have GPS navigation to get you used to navigating your own way through life.
More information and how to register can be found here.
Many of you will need these shuttles so make sure you book here now.
Camper van packages
If you have booked a camper van please make sure you book your camper van parking and driver package here.
Recovery Zone bookings
We have an outstanding Recovery Zone comprising of massage, physio and recovery boots so make sure you book early to avoid disappointment – they do take the odd walk in if they have space but generally it is best to book a package if you like a daily rub. More information can be found here.
We recommend for absolute peace of mind you book a mechanic package. More information can be found here.
Many of our schools and villages offer alternative accommodation to tents at their venue from school hostels to luxury tents. This offers an awesome alternative to being in tents all week.
More information can be found here.
International rider packages with Adventure Travel
For ultimate peace of mind you should consider teaming up with Adventure Travel to make your journey smoother. Ellen from Adventure travel will be able to offer you a range of packages pre and post the event that will ensure that you can just relax and ride.
For example you can book your mechanic package with Sprocket and Jack (Grant Usher) through Ellen. Grant has ridden joBerg2c many times. He will also put your bike together and make sure you can even do a little test ride on our favourite trails around Johannesburg.
More information can be found here.
Avis Van Rental Top Tip No 1 – practise your Switchbacks for Day 6!
Over the next few weeks we will be giving some top tips to make you joBerg2c experience better. Day 6 has a piece of trail with 32 Switchbacks. It makes a big difference if you can ride them relaxed and inspired.
As you know joBerg2c is a GPS navigation event which means you need to have a GPS unit capable of following tracks. A mobile phone does not work. More information can be found here.
That’s it for now – we will send out regular newsletters probably nagging you a bit.
