INTERNATIONAL RIDERS – TRAVEL INFORMATION
We have put together some additional information especially for our international riders – which will hopefully help with your planning.
If you are doing your own planning then take note of the following:
Getting to South Africa
You will need to fly into Johannesburg – OR Tambo airport and fly out of Durban – King Shaka airport.
If there are no direct flights from your country then one option is to fly Emirates. It’s the only international airline where you can fly into Johannesburg and out of Durban (via Dubai).
Tip – we recommend that you arrive two to three days before the start to acclimatise.
Make sure you have adequate travel insurance. We have an incredible medical support team however if you go to hospital for any reason it will need to be a private hospital and they will insist on a credit card and travel insurance. You will not be allowed to ride unless proof of adequate travel insurance has been sent to us – more about this closer to the event.
Tip – when booking your travel insurance make sure you say you are doing a ‘tour’ (as opposed to a event or race).
Visas and Passports
Check your passport is valid now to avoid panic and also check here if you need a visa to visit South Africa. If you are traveling with children please note that new visa requirements mentioned on this website.
We have put together this guide to help you ensure you have thought of everything. You can download a version here.
