Karan Beef Start has no water
We will remind you many times about this: On the morning of Friday 21 April you will need to come to the start with your bottles and hydration packs sorted. THERE IS NO DRINKING WATER AVAILABLE AT THE START.
There will be coffee, tea and a selection of muffins and breakfast bars on sale at the start thanks to Life Ministries Christian Centre.
Old Mutual joBerg2c is proud to be part of the Old Mutual World of Endurance
Many people ask us how difficult joBerg2c is. Our answer is simple; it is a proper long, off-road endurance event and when you get to Scottburgh you will have completed a 900km journey that although uplifting, it will test you all the way. For this reason we are part of the Old Mutual World of Endurance along with other special events like the Comrades and Two-Oceans marathon.

Mutual and Federal offers South African riders free bike insurance
We are once again delighted to have Mutual and Federal part of the event as our bike insurance partners. Unfortunately for technical reasons this is limited to South African riders only. They will give each rider free insurance for the full 9 days from the start at Karan to finish at Scottburgh.
Like all great offers there are obviously terms and conditions or rather Berms and Conditions so please click here to find out more.
Avis Van Rental – Top Packing Tips
Avis Van Rental will deliver your bags from village to village each day. Please check out our packing list to ensure you have a bag that does not weigh you down.
As mentioned you will only be able to use one bag and that is our official bag. All other bags will be transported to the finish in Scottburgh.
Remember you can get most spares and parts and other stuff in the event, so don’t pack stupid things that make your week tough.
Click here for packing tips and list.
We are busy finalising GPS routes they will sent via Dropbox towards end of next week before Easter.
Remember if you have any queries please email Matt – firstname.lastname@example.org for any GPS related query.
Aruba and BCX to bring you Wifi
We have two new sponsors collaborating to bring you Wifi each race village. We are delighted to introduce you to Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, and BCX, a new business unit from the Telkom stable.
Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, is a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions for enterprises of all sizes worldwide. The company delivers IT solutions that empower organizations to serve the latest generation of mobile-savvy users who rely on cloud-based business apps for every aspect of their work and personal lives.
BCX provides the most advanced Information and Communications technology (ICT) products, services and solutions on the African continent.
You will get to know both companies in our chill zones over the 9 days where they will provide Wifi.
Our YouTube and Facebook daily highlights will also be brought to you by BCX and Aruba – for friends and families around the world.
Please ask them to subscribe here to get our daily updates.
ER24 comes on board as emergency services provider
We welcome ER24 and their team as our medical service provider – they will work closely with ORRU (Off-Road Rescue Unit) to provide all our riders with the best possible care during the event.
We will naturally go on about this more before the event. Suffice to say they are experts on the job and we are chuffed to be associated.
Recovery Zone – massage, physio, and yoga
Reminder space fills up fast in our Recovery Zone and if you have not got your name down we suggest you move fast.
You can also book Yoga each day to get loose and ready for the next day.
More information on these three services can be found here.
Last but not least the official Old Mutual joBerg2c song
Coffee Snobs are very excited to be associated with this year’s Old Mutual Joberg2c mountain bike race again. In 2016, their very popular song – Eie Land – was used as the official song for the race and they’ve recorded a brand new song – The Road – to be used as this year’s official song.
The band consists of husband and wife Marius and Vernette Wessels who are both enthusiastic mountain bikers. They were supposed to take part in the 2015 race but Vernette fell pregnant with their first born son, Matthias, and they decided to pull out. Since then they’ve done a little less riding and a bit more nappy changing but still love the sport and Matthias now rides along in his baby seat!
They hope that the new song – The Road – will inspire not only the riders but every one who hears it to take on the race of life, with it’s up-hills and down-hills, and live life to the full every single day.
Watch the special Old Mutual joBerg2c edit to their song here.
If you like it you can support them by downloading it from iTunes soon.
For now keep the rubber side up and look after yourselves. See you all in Joburg soon.
